Low-Demand housing is a program design using a low-demand/harm-reduction model to better accommodate chronically homeless Veterans, and Veterans who were unsuccessful in traditional treatment settings. Programming does not require sobriety or compliance with mental health treatment as a condition of admission or continued stay.
Service Intensive Transitional Housing offers a milieu of services to include a strong clinical focus on substance abuse and mental health that facilitate individual stabilization and movement to permanent housing as rapidly as clinically appropriate. The scope of services incorporates tactics to increase the Veteran’s income through employment and/or benefits and obtaining permanent housing.
Bridge housing provides veterans with a short-term stay in transitional housing. Veterans in Bridge housing have pre-identified permanent housing supports in place and have been offered and accepted a permanent housing intervention such as Supportive Services for Veterans Families (SSVF), Department of Housing and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing (HUD–VASH), Housing Coalition/ Continuum of Care (CoC).
Contract bed housing provides veterans with short term housing, with an average length of stay ranging from 90 to 180 days, depending on their progress and housing plan. The program emphasizes accountability, recovery, and connection to community resources as veterans transition from crisis to self-sufficiency.
