Veterans Place Launches Recovery Support Services Program to Support Veterans at All Stages of Recovery
Veterans Place is proud to announce the launch of its new Recovery Support Services (RSS) Program, a voluntary program designed to assist veterans at any stage of recovery.
Through a two-year grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), this initiative was created in response to the increasing need for comprehensive recovery resources among local veterans. The program addresses the complex challenges many face related to substance use, mental health, trauma, and reintegration into civilian life.
Built on the understanding that recovery is personal and non-linear, the RSS Program provides an accessible, nonjudgmental environment where veterans are supported and empowered in their journey. The funding strengthens Veterans Place’s ability to deliver specialized peer-driven services focused on long-term stability and engagement.
The RSS Program connects participants with Certified Recovery Specialists (CRS) who provide peer support grounded in lived experience. CRS staff partner with veterans to develop individualized recovery plans, connect with community resources, and navigate barriers related to housing, employment, health, and overall wellness.
“Our Recovery Support Services Program is about choice, dignity, and meeting veterans where they are,” said Kevin Kordzi, Executive Director of Veterans Place. “We understand that recovery looks different for every individual, and this program ensures veterans have access to meaningful, non-clinical peer support that respects their personal goals and experiences.”
Services include one-on-one peer support, recovery planning, health and wellness events, educational workshops, support groups, and referrals to outside resources. CRS staff continue working with veterans as they transition from transitional housing into permanent homes, helping them establish strong support networks within their new surroundings.
The RSS Program is available to veterans who are new to recovery, in long-term recovery, exploring their options, or seeking additional support. All intakes are completed by Veterans Place staff, with referrals provided when a higher level of care is appropriate.

Kevin has a graduate degree from Penn State University, is a certified drug and alcohol counselor and has worked in human services for over 40 years. Kevin has extensive experience in program start up, development and management.
