Wellness Center

A Space Designed to Support Veteran Wellness

The Wellness Center at Veterans Place is a multipurpose facility designed to support veterans experiencing homelessness as they work toward stability and independence. The center includes a fully equipped commercial gym and wellness space that supports physical health, mental well-being, and overall recovery as part of a holistic model of care.

This space is available to veterans enrolled in Veterans Place programs, including veterans in transitional housing and veterans accessing the Veterans Resource Center during designated hours.

What the Wellness Center Offers

Veterans who use the Wellness Center have access to a fully equipped fitness and wellness space with strength and cardio equipment. The center is on campus, allowing residents to use the space without traveling. The multipurpose center also includes eight single-occupancy bedrooms on the first and third floors, while the Wellness Center itself is located on the second floor.

Support for Physical and Mental Well-Being

Open Wellness Hours provide supervised access to the fitness center during designated times. The program also includes occasional group-based wellness activities focused on physical and mental health. All services are provided in person.

In Partnership with Allegheny Health Network

A key feature of the Multi-Purpose Center is our partnership with Allegheny Health Network’s Center for Inclusion Health, which provides critical healthcare services for veterans who are ineligible for care through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This partnership is instrumental in expanding access to healthcare, addressing gaps in care, and offering veteran-centered services.

What to Expect When You Visit

Veterans who are already enrolled in the transitional housing program or connected through the Veterans Resource Center may begin using the Wellness Center as an immediate on-campus resource.

Simple, On-Campus Access

Appointments are not required. Veterans who reside on campus or are enrolled through the Veterans Resource Center may use the facility during operating hours.

Participants should wear appropriate gym attire and closed-toe shoes. The space is fully accessible, and accommodations are available as needed.

Veteran Success Story

“My name is Derrick Dennis, and I’m a veteran who has experienced firsthand the life-changing support that Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard offers to those of us who have nowhere else to turn…… They didn’t just offer me help, they gave me a community and a renewed sense of purpose. Now I am standing on my own again. I’m proud to say I’m no longer homeless. I have a sustainable income and most importantly, I am looking forward to the future.”
