Accreditation & Recognition

A Commitment to Quality, Accountability, and Veteran-Focused Service

Veterans Place is committed to providing services that support veterans as they move toward stable, sustainable lives. These accreditations and recognitions reflect that commitment, including CARF accreditation, its ASPIRE to Excellence® framework, Candid Platinum Seal of Transparency, 4-star rating on Charity Navigator, and community recognition for the organization’s work in serving veterans in the Pittsburgh region.

CARF Accreditation

Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, a local nonprofit dedicated to combating veteran homelessness, was first awarded CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accreditation in 2021 and was most recently awarded its third Three-Year Term of Accreditation on February 28, 2024. CARF is an independent accrediting body for health and human services. Veterans Place is accredited in Community Employment Services: Employment Supports, Community Employment Services: Job Development, Community Housing, and Services Coordination.

CARF recognizes Veterans Place’s concern for the health, well-being, and safety of our veterans, reflected through our facilities and quality of programs offered. CARF also recognized the staff and organization for “always putting veterans first in all of its decision-making.” Veterans Place earned three-year accreditation, CARF’s highest level of accreditation, demonstrating substantial conformance to CARF standards. The CARF standards have been developed for over 50 years by international teams comprised of policymakers, payers, family members, service providers, and consumers.

This accreditation is supported by CARF’s ASPIRE to Excellence® framework, which promotes person-centered, evidence-based services delivered by an interdisciplinary team of professionals. The ASPIRE Model emphasizes individualized service planning and is particularly well-suited to addressing the unique needs of Veterans, many of whom may experience multiple and complex needs related to their military service.
