SUPPORT THAT MEETS VETERANS WHERE THEY ARE

Every veteran’s situation is different. For some, the first need is a meal, clean clothes, or transportation. For others, it is support with housing, recovery, or financial stability. The Veterans Resource Center is built to address those needs in practical ways while also helping veterans move toward something more stable. It is a place to get immediate help, clear guidance, and ongoing support in one location.

This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Bob Woodruff Foundation, which is dedicated to ensuring that impacted veterans, service members, their families, and their caregivers thrive long after they return home.

Connecting Veterans to Essential Resources

Veterans are connected to housing resources right away, and they do not need to be VA-eligible to receive services. Our team helps identify next steps based on each veteran’s individual situation.

WHAT THE RESOURCE CENTER OFFERS

Everyday Support for Immediate Needs

Veterans can access the basics that often make the biggest difference, including food, clothing, showers, laundry facilities, and transportation. These services are designed to reduce immediate stress and help veterans focus on their next steps with more stability and support.

Individualized Help for Long-Term Stability

The center also provides case management tailored to each veteran’s situation. Support may include financial assistance, housing referrals, budgeting guidance, and help building the skills needed for more stable day-to-day living. Veterans Place also works with low-income veterans and families who need help avoiding homelessness, hunger, or financial crisis.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU VISIT

The Veterans Resource Center welcomes veterans Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 945 Washington Boulevard in Pittsburgh. When veterans arrive, they can speak with staff, access practical resources, and connect with the programs or services that best fit their needs. Transportation is also available from several pickup locations throughout the region.

Simple, On-Campus Access

The center is designed to make support easier to reach. Veterans can come in during weekday hours, talk through what they need, and get help accessing both immediate resources and longer-term services.

Supportive Staff and Personalized Guidance

Staff work one-on-one with veterans to understand their situation and connect them with the right next step, whether that means housing support, case management, financial assistance, or recovery services.

Hours and Transportation

The center is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Transportation is available Monday through Friday, with pickup from locations that include VA University Drive, Shepherd’s Heart, Wood Street Commons, Downtown Huntington Bank, Pleasant Valley, Light of Life, and VA Aspinwall. BUILDING ROUTINES AND GREATER STABILITY

Beyond immediate support, the Veterans Resource Center helps veterans build routines that support long-term well-being. The campus includes a full food bank, along with an on-site computer lab where veterans can search for housing and employment, attend virtual appointments, and stay connected with family and support systems.

The center also offers program-specific support for female veterans, community-based case management for veterans who have recently moved into permanent housing, and recovery support services for veterans living with opioid use disorder or other substance use disorders. These services focus on health, home, purpose, and community so veterans can work toward lasting stability.

Veterans Resource Center FAQ

No. As long as you served at least one day in the military, you are considered a veteran and are welcome at the Veterans Resource Center.

No. The Veterans Resource Center is a drop-in center, not a shelter. We provide services and support during the day and close at 3:00 PM.

The Veterans Resource Center is open to both men and women veterans Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. On Fridays only, the Veterans Resource Center is also open to the public, meaning you do not need to be a veteran to access services that day.

No. All services at the Veterans Resource Center are provided at no cost.
