Why Military Veterans Make Great Entrepreneurs

Veterans Place CARF

When you think of an entrepreneur, what comes to mind? Maybe you think of someone who is creative, risk-taking, and driven. Or someone who is always coming up with new ideas and knows how to turn them into successful businesses. Chances are, you don’t think of a military veteran. But the truth is, there are many reasons why military veterans make great entrepreneurs.

Here are just a few of those reasons:

Military veterans are disciplined

One of the most important qualities of a successful entrepreneur is discipline. Military veterans have spent their lives following orders and adhering to a strict set of rules and regulations. This discipline extends to their personal lives as well; many military veterans are used to getting up early, working out, and eating healthy. This discipline will serve them well as they start their own businesses and try to juggle all the different hats they’ll have to wear (CEO, CFO, CMO, etc.).

Military veterans are good at following orders

While this may seem like it would be a negative quality in an entrepreneur (after all, aren’t entrepreneurs supposed to be independent?), the ability to follow orders is actually a very important quality for anyone in business. That’s because no business can function without a clear chain of command. In order for a business to run smoothly, there needs to be someone in charge who can give clear instructions that everyone else can follow. And who better to do that than someone with experience in the military?

Military veterans know how to work as part of a team

Another important quality for entrepreneurs is the ability to work well as part of a team, which makes an entrepreneur an ideal career. Military veterans are used to working closely with others in order to accomplish a common goal. They know how to communicate effectively and how to resolve conflicts quickly. These skills will come in handy as they build their own businesses and try to assemble the right team of employees (or partners) to help them achieve their goals.

There are many reasons why military veterans make great entrepreneurs. They are disciplined, good at following orders, and know how to work as part of a team. They also have experience leading others and managing complex projects. Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard is dedicated to helping veterans succeed with workforce development and employment services.
