Give Thanks and Give Back This Holiday Season at Veterans Place

As we prepare to share a meal with loved ones this Thanksgiving and reflect on what we are grateful for, it is also a great opportunity to think of ways to give back to the community.

At Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, we are dedicated to providing food, housing, clothing, and a range of other valuable services to Veterans experiencing homelessness.

Transitional Housing Update & Thanksgiving Celebration at Veterans Place

With our new outreach efforts, we’re proud to say that we’re seeing more veterans, and our Transitional Housing program has been at 100% capacity.

Our Transitional Housing program offers veterans a way to stabilize through mental health services and substance use disorder treatment while also helping them obtain employment and other benefits that will ultimately help them obtain permanent housing.

On Thanksgiving Day, Parkwood Presbyterian Church will join us to serve our veterans a full Thanksgiving meal. Zone 5 Police will also deliver prepared Thanksgiving meals, and Inspired Hearts & Hands will provide Thanksgiving boxes filled with shelf-stable items, allowing our veterans to prepare their own holiday meals as well.

How to You Can Give Back to Veterans This Holiday Season

One thing we are grateful for this holiday season is the community of supporters who continue to support our mission to help unhoused veterans thrive.

If you’re looking for ways to give back this holiday season, we are currently in need of shelf-stable food (not expired), and in-kind donations such as warm-weather clothing, including gloves, hats, socks, sweatshirts, and coats.

These donations can be dropped off at our location at 945 Washington Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15206.

If you’re looking for other ways to help, you can make a monetary donation online here. Donate in honor of a loved one, support our 11 for 11 Challenge in honor of Veterans Day, or make a general donation to assist us in continuing to support local veterans in need.

Thank You From The Team at Veterans Place

Without our community of supporters, our mission wouldn’t be possible. All donations, big or small, go directly to helping veterans in need obtain housing, clothing, food, and support in building a stable and self-sustaining life.

Thank you for your support, and Happy Thanksgiving from Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard!
