Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard, doors remain open for service

Veterans Place Housing

Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard continues to keep its doors open wide to serve local veterans in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic. They are currently offering all usual on-site services, including one-on-one case management, and referrals to programs including but not limited to drug and alcohol and behavioral health.

Financial Assistance, employment case management, on-site food pantry, clothing, breakfast, and hot lunch are also being provided. While all the usual services are available, there are no large groups or gatherings at this time.
To ensure the health and safety of veterans and staff, masks are required to enter the facility per the Governor Wolf’s recommendation.  Anyone entering the Veterans Place facility is also required to have their temperature is taken and will need to answer a short questionnaire before allowed access to the facility.

“The risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic have created an emergency situation facing homeless veterans in Pittsburgh. Veterans Place, devoted to the health and well-being of one of our city’s most vulnerable populations, has KEPT ITS DOORS OPEN,” said Rob Hamilton, Interim Executive Director of Veterans Place.

As an additional measure of safety, Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard is not currently accepting visitors from outside vendors unless it has been approved by staff.  Veterans are always welcome with face masks and while taking the necessary precautions, such as social distancing.
