Registration Opens for Veterans Place’s 12th Annual Cornhole Classic at Acrisure Stadium

Veterans Place opens registration for its Cornhole Classic at Acrisure Stadium, supporting local veterans facing homelessness.

Annual fundraiser during Pittsburgh Ribfest supports veterans on their journey from homelessness to permanent housing

Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard has opened registration for its 12th Annual Cornhole Classic, scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 6, 2026, at Acrisure Stadium during Pittsburgh Ribfest. The annual fundraiser supports local veterans and the programs that help them transition from homelessness to permanent housing while building independence and self-sufficiency.

Individuals, businesses, and community members throughout the Pittsburgh region are encouraged to register teams, become sponsors, donate raffle baskets, and volunteer. An Early Bird registration discount is available through July 4, allowing teams to save $10 when registering in advance.

Now entering its 12th year, the Cornhole Classic has become a Pittsburgh tradition that combines friendly competition with a meaningful cause. This year’s event is especially significant as Veterans Place celebrates its 30th anniversary of serving veterans across the region. Proceeds directly support programs that assist veterans as they rebuild their lives and work toward lasting success.

Veterans Place serves veterans facing homelessness, housing insecurity, and other barriers by providing transitional housing, recovery support services, case management, mentorship, workforce development, and pathways to permanent housing. Support from individuals, businesses, and community partners helps ensure veterans have access to the resources they need to move forward.

“The Cornhole Classic brings people together to support local veterans while enjoying a memorable day with family, friends, and colleagues,” said Jessica Gilmore, Director of Operations and Development at Veterans Place. “Every registration, sponsorship, volunteer hour, and donation helps strengthen the resources that empower veterans to build brighter futures.”

In addition to tournament play, participants can support the event through sponsorships, raffle basket donations, and volunteer opportunities. These options provide meaningful ways for individuals and organizations to make an impact beyond the competition itself.

“This event continues to grow because of the generosity and commitment of our supporters,” said Zeljana Turuntas, Community Relations Coordinator at Veterans Place. “As we celebrate our 12th Annual Cornhole Classic and Veterans Place’s 30th anniversary, we’re grateful for the many individuals and organizations that help create lasting change for veterans throughout our region.”

Last year’s Cornhole Classic welcomed more than 70 teams and 250 attendees, raising over $60,000 to support Veterans Place’s mission of ending veteran homelessness. Organizers hope to build on that success in 2026 as support for local veterans continues to grow.
