5th Annual Buddy Ambrose Memorial Golf Outing Will Benefit Veterans Place; Veterans Place Will Also Sponsor Sept. 12 Recovery Event
PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard will participate in two Pittsburgh-area events in September focused on veteran support, recovery and community connection. Veterans Place will sponsor and participate in the 2026 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk on Sept. 12, followed by the 5th Annual Buddy Ambrose Memorial Golf Outing on Sept. 19, where 100% of proceeds will benefit the nonprofit’s work supporting homeless and at-risk veterans.
The 2026 Pittsburgh Recovery Walk will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, at 1201 Waterfront Place in Pittsburgh. Veterans Place will sponsor the event and host a table to connect with attendees and increase awareness of recovery support and other services available to veterans.
Veterans Place provides recovery support as part of its broader work helping veterans address barriers to housing stability and greater independence. The organization also provides housing, employment, and other supportive services to veterans in the Pittsburgh community.
“Recovery is strengthened when people know they have a community and meaningful support available to them,” said Luciano Rauso-McNeillie, Recovery Support Services Manager at Veterans Place. “The Pittsburgh Recovery Walk gives us an opportunity to stand alongside the recovery community and make sure veterans know that support and connection are available.”
One week later, the 5th Annual Buddy Ambrose Memorial Golf Outing will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, at Grandview Golf Club in North Braddock, Pennsylvania. The outing honors Buddy Ambrose, a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division, while raising money to support veterans in the Pittsburgh area.
The 2025 golf outing raised more than $20,000, and 100% of proceeds from the 2026 event will benefit Veterans Place.
Registration begins at 8 a.m., followed by a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Lunch and awards will follow golf. Individual registration is $110 and includes lunch, green fees, cart, and prizes. Foursomes are $440, and lunch-only registration is $30. Hole sponsorship opportunities begin at $100, with additional sponsorship options available.
“Buddy Ambrose’s legacy of military service gives this outing a purpose that extends well beyond a day of golf,” said Zeljana Turuntas, Community Relations Coordinator at Veterans Place of Washington Boulevard. “The support generated through this event helps Veterans Place continue providing housing, employment, recovery, and supportive services to veterans who need them in our community.”
The deadline to register for the Buddy Ambrose Memorial Golf Outing is Aug. 30, 2026. Participants may also support the event through monetary donations or donated prizes and gift cards.
Together, the Pittsburgh Recovery Walk and Buddy Ambrose Memorial Golf Outing provide two opportunities in September for the Pittsburgh community to connect with Veterans Place’s mission through recovery awareness and direct financial support for services benefiting local veterans.
